Saltash Place, Poundbury, Dorset

Putting People and Connection First

Poundbury is the Duchy of Cornwall’s urban extension to the county town of Dorchester. Developed over a period of 20 years, with a further 10-15 years to completion, and designed to a masterplan by Leon Krier, Poundbury has been an extraordinarily influential demonstration of the former HRH The Prince of Wales, now known as HM King Charles III in ‘A Vision of Britain’ for new mixed-use development.

We were very fortunate to have been appointed by Zero C/Places for People to bring forward from a secured Planning Consent the above scheme. Our involvement was to assist with alterations to the planning consent to make elevational changes and incorporate a further coach house, and on the technical side to bring to life the schemes ethos, taking design inspirations from the cultural and picturesque cities of Venice and Munich.

This phase was formed of 34 two-bedroom apartments, four-bedroom luxury villas and two-bedroom coach houses situated just opposite Queen Mother Square.

The wonderfully modern and spacious interiors include large windows to let the light pour in.

The scheme had many challenges, and we were involved not only in the normal requirements of a Building Regulation compliance, but to provide very detailed drawings for all aspects of the project including, porticos, window surrounds, cornices and many more complex fenestration details to ensure the spirit of the scheme remained.

We are delighted to be currently engaged by this client on other phases of this development which will soon be added to our portfolio.
