Middleton – A Walking Community

Middleton challenges the convention of car-dominated housing estates by placing people at the heart of its design. Inspired by celebrated placemaking projects, this visionary development is built on the principles of walkability, community interaction, and a more human pace of life.

Carefully master planned around pedestrian-friendly streets, shared spaces, and green communal areas, Middleton is designed to nurture connection, support sustainability, and promote wellbeing.

Architecturally, the homes take cues from the past to shape the future. With a traditional look and feel that reflects and enhances the existing village character, Middleton’s design pays homage to Victorian, Georgian, and Edwardian styles. Thoughtful detailing, high-quality materials, and exceptional craftsmanship come together to create a distinctive and enduring streetscape—offering the charm of heritage with the comfort of modern living.

We’re proud to share that, following a resolution to grant planning (subject to a Section 106 agreement), Captiva Homes Ltd have once again entrusted DWC Architecture Limited to progress this landmark scheme through to the next stage of development.

Planning & Working Drawings

 Bembridge, Isle of Wight

Situated between Mill Road and The High Street, on the edge of the village of Bembridge, this site represents a sensitive and natural extension to the existing community. The scheme draws inspiration from the celebrated Poundbury development in Dorset, delivering a place-focused approach that blends tradition, character and technical precision.

The Vision

This 130-home scheme embraces a character-led architectural approach, intentionally avoiding the uniformity of conventional suburban layouts. Inspired by Poundbury’s success, the proposal focuses on placemaking and people-oriented design.

With framed vistas, rich architectural detailing, and a circulation layout shaped by the principles of scale and rhythm, the development is designed to grow as a seamless extension of the village—celebrating walkability, heritage, and community identity.
